Small-group pregnancy walk · Black Park Country Park
Ease the overwhelm of pregnancy, with a private midwife beside you.
A gentle woodland walk with a small group of pregnant women and me, a private expert midwife (with training in walking meditation by Tibetan monks). Real conversation, unhurried time, and the space to actually prepare for what is ahead. Not just physically, but emotionally too.

If any of this sounds familiar
You are up at 2am with racing thoughts, and Google is not helping.
An app can tell you why your mind is racing. It cannot walk beside you through the trees while you say the thing you have not said out loud, take a deep breath of fresh air, and let your shoulders drop. It cannot sense when to stay quiet, or know which question will unlock what you really mean.
What you need at 2am is not another screen. It is a real person beside you who knows how pregnancy actually feels, and has the time to listen until the noise quietens.
Antenatal classes are good at what they are built for. Stages of labour, pain relief options, the mechanics of what happens. What they were never designed to do is prepare you for how you will actually feel in the moment, or how to ask for what you need when things get overwhelming.
This walk is built for exactly that.
This walk is for you if
One or more of these is quietly true right now
You feel anxious, scared, or overwhelmed about pregnancy or birth, and you do not know what to do with that.
You do not have anyone in your life right now who really gets what you are going through.
Questions have come up that there simply was not time to explore in a routine appointment.
You have heard something and thought, why didn't I know that? The trouble is, you do not know what you do not know.
You would rather prepare properly than just feel soothed in the moment.
You are finding pregnancy more isolating than anyone warned you it would be.
What happens on the day
90 minutes of stress relief and self care.
No pressures. No expectations. No pretending you feel fine. Just a small group of women on a similar journey, a private midwife, and the space for conversation and understanding that your nervous system will love.
Arrive, breathe, and meet the group.
We meet at the Black Park cafe. Grab a drink if you want one, then we set off together at an easy pace through the pines and around the lake. No introductions to perform, no small talk to keep up. Just a quiet start with people who understand where you are.
Let go of tension.
You do not need a neat question. You do not need to speak first. You do not need to share anything you do not want to.
I guide the hour around a theme, then follow what the group actually needs. My work as a specialist midwife in maternal mental health has given me insight and experience I can draw on to help you feel steadier and more prepared for whatever comes next.
You leave feeling less stressed, less alone, and less mentally tired. Not because every question is solved, but because you have shared the load, even for a morning.
Leave with a clear next step.
Before we finish, I make sure you know your next step, who to call if something changes, and what is worth keeping an eye on. Stay for a coffee at the cafe in the woods if you want to keep chatting, or head straight home. Either way, you leave knowing what to do next.
Walking outside, at a gentle pace, with other women who understand where you are right now, can leave you feeling clearer and more grounded than when you arrived. Not because every worry is solved, but because you have had the space to breathe, speak, and be heard.

Who I am
The midwife walking with you
I am Darcey. I spent sixteen years in NHS maternity care before stepping into private practice. I have watched women get reassured instead of properly prepared. I am building this to be the opposite of that.
This walk is not a lecture. It is time with someone who has heard every worry you might name, and can give it the unhurried response state care rarely has the capacity for.

Why walking, why the trees
A worried nervous system does not calm down through statistics
It calms through movement, through being outdoors, and through being genuinely heard. Not a conveyor belt of appointments, not a lecture in a stuffy room. This walk is built around the conditions that actually let your nervous system settle, so what you learn actually lands.

Once they are gone, they are gone
